Description

Microsoft Reporting Services is the component of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 that adds a server-based reporting solution to the Microsoft business intelligence framework. SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services is a comprehensive, server-based reporting solution designed to help you author, manage and deliver both paper-based and interactive Web-based reports.

This course is designed for new users of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services 2005. Some of the topics covered include the following:
• An explanation of how the components of Reporting Services fully support the reporting life cycle.
• How to install these components
• Building simple reports and advanced techniques using Reporting Services features to satisfy a variety of reporting requirements
• The activities that you need to perform when managing the reporting environment
• The many ways that you can use Reporting Services to provide reports
• How to use Reporting Services as a development platform for custom applications that author, manage or deliver reports.

Prerequisites

This course is intended for database administrators, developers and other professionals who have experience with SQL Server 7.0, 2000 and 2005, as well as basic Microsoft Visual Studio.NET navigation skills. Before attending this course, students should have exposure to Visual Studio.NET; exposure to creating reports in Microsoft Access or other reporting products, such as Crystal Reports;
experience navigating the Microsoft Windows Server environment; experience with Microsoft Windows services, such as starting and stopping services and creating service accounts and permissions.
