This 3-day course is focused on learning Microsoft's self-service business intelligence toolset through the creation and use of tabular models in PowerPivot for Excel and PowerPivot for SharePoint, reporting in Power View and building dashboards in Performance Point. The course takes business analysts, including Excel jockeys? with no prior data modelling experience through the lifecycle of working with, reporting on and creating their own tabular models in PowerPivot for Excel 2010. By the end of the course, students will not only be able to use existing PowerPivot models to create and share Excel pivot tables and charts, presentation-ready Power View reports, and PerformancePoint dashboards; students will also learn how to create their own PowerPivot models by importing data from a wide range of sources, creating relationships, calculations and key performance indicators. IT professionals will learn how to support the sometimes-complex web of products needed to provide a SharePoint-based self-service business intelligence environment to their users
Before attending this course, it is recommended that students have the following skills and experience:
-Excel (any version), including formulas, pivot tables and charts, and VLOOKUP
-Familiarity with sharing and storing documents in SharePoint
-Basic understanding of database concepts (no querying language experience is necessary)
-Basic understanding of charts, including selecting the right visualization for the intended purpose
