Description

This 4 day instructor led course will teach programming concepts and how to add simple functionality to a Microsoft Access database using Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications. At the end of the course, students will be able to use the programming capabilities of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications in Microsoft Access applications to write custom functions and event-driven procedures; validate data; find and trap errors; gain access to and manipulate data in tables using ActiveX, Data Objects (ADO) and Structured Query Language (SQL); and create a custom switchboard for an Access application.

Prerequisites

Before beginning this course, students should be able to:

• Design a relational database
• Use Microsoft Access to:
o Create a database with multiple tables, forms and reports
o Create queries

Six months of experience using Microsoft Access is recommended.

The student should also be comfortable with Structured Query Language (SQL). They should be proficient in writing select statements, update statements and where clauses. Students should attend the course SQL Fundamentals of Querying or have the equivalent knowledge.
