Description

PHP is the preferred language for rapidly creating dynamic Web page content. While its main use is as a cross-platform, HTML-embedded, server-side Web scripting language, it now works equally well when creating multi-tiered applications or XML-based applications as well as Web applications. This course teaches you the features and functionality of PHP 5, from installing and configuring it to designing and constructing complex data-driven Web sites. You should not have problems if you are using a slightly older version.
Although this course focuses on using MySQL and PHP in combination, you'll do a vast majority of your dynamic Web site work using PHP alone. You'll learn the basics, from syntax to variables, operators and language constructs (conditionals, loops and whatnots). At the same time you are learning these fundamentals, you'll also begin developing usable code that you'll integrate into larger applications.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of HTML and some programming experience is required. This course does not formally teach HTML or Web page design.
