Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is power-packed. This course gives you command of that power to build sophisticated applications in the environment Access provides. Youll get VBA programming fundamentals and an understanding of the Visual Basic Editor, VBA language elements, and code debugging. Then youll go deeper into programming user interactions, connecting to databases with ADO, developing multi-user applications and more. This knowledge will take you from power user to power developer.
This course will showcase what you can do with VBA in Microsoft Access without spending a great deal of time rehashing core programming concepts. If you have never programmed before, you may benefit from taking Introduction to Programming prior to attending the course.

Prerequisites

Students enrolling in this course should have some fairly high-level experience with Access. You should understand the principles of relational database design & be comfortable with Access and all its objects: tables, queries, forms, reports, macros and modules. You should be able to perform the following tasks: Create tables, enter data and save the design and data; create queries to extract the data that you need, including summaries; create forms for data entry with user-friendly controls; design and print reports that group and summarize data; work in the Windows environment.

The student should also be comfortable with Structured Query Language (SQL). They should be proficient in writing select statements, update statements and where clauses. Students should attend the course SQL Fundamentals of Querying or have the equivalent knowledge. If you have never programmed before, you may benefit from taking Introduction to Programming prior to attending the course.
